My son,Blake is 15 and he has Autism. He is high functioning and if I could afford a good school for him,he would soar.

He knows he has Autism...well,he says,"I'm Autistic...is that good?" Thats a tough one to answer...of course I say that it is good.(I don't want him to feel bad). But,by the time we are finished talking,he looks at me as if he is thinking,"It doesn't sound very good." I usually say,"Well,Blake, you are good and Autism is part of who you are,so its not bad...it's just different."

Different??? that's a bad word in any teens vocabulary. So,I try to explain it again. I don't know what to tell him.Maybe I need a book to guide me.
